String lights glowing through the shade tree branches at dusk
Sanford, Florida

Come sit under the shade tree.

Small gatherings in North Orlando where the elder guides the younger and the younger inspires the elder. Somewhere between Sunday service and the rest of your week, most of us need a place to be honest.

Shade Tree is that place. No building. No dues. No pressure to perform.

Just a circle of chairs, an open Bible, and people like you who want to grow.

What makes it different

This is a safe place

01

Everybody takes a turn

People do not stay in the audience. They grow into discussion leaders, facilitators and guides.

02

Both directions

The elder guides the younger, the younger inspires the elder. Nobody is too seasoned or too new.

03

Under a tree, on purpose

No building, no climate control, no institutional overhead. That is the point, not a limitation.

04

We are not a church and never will be

We send people back to their own congregations and encourage them to stay planted there.

05

Doctrine that unites

The Apostles' Creed, the Bible as the standard, and divisive denominational arguments left at the door.

06

It multiplies

Every trained facilitator makes another gathering possible.

07

Free to walk in

Nobody is ever charged to attend.

The brotherhood & gatherings

Where the elder guides the younger, and the younger inspires the elder.

“Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, but encouraging one another.”

How it started

A question that came home from Haiti.

For years our teams ended every day in Haiti with one question: where did you see God move in your life today? When the trips stopped, the question came home with us. Shade Tree started on a backyard deck in Sanford and has grown into several weekly gatherings.

There is a chair here with your name on it.

Come as you are, bring your questions, and stay for After Hours.
